Down East Magazine has been a long time favorite of mine – keeping Maine on my mind even when I lived 3500 miles away.  It also played a large role in helping my husband and I choose the Midcoast when it came time to make our move.  So, it was a great pleasure to have Paul Doiron, Editor of Down East magazine as my guest today.  Thank you, Paul, for visiting with me.  What made the discussion even better, was the chance to hear more about the writing of Paul’s captivating first novel, “The Poacher’s Son.” I hope you will rush out to buy and enjoy this terrific and intriguing tale set against fantastic imagery of the Maine north woods.  So, read the book, look through your latest copy of Down East, and enjoy this podcast.    As always, thanks for listening.

Today, in the spirit of “The Poacher’s Son” lead character, young and fiery hero Mike Bowditch, we played selections from “Exile on Main Street”, Rolling Stones.  Our Gulf of Maine to Gulf of Mexico dedication today was Bonnie Raitt’s, “I Will Not Be Broken.”

Good tunes to start your 4th of July weekend off right. Little rough around the edges this week (frustrating rookie mistakes…why can’t I master those CD players winking ) but fun and flag waving nonetheless!  Took a little journey via music across the country then wrapped up with a few patriotic tunes.  Couldn’t quite squeeze it all in.  So, we’ll be sure to get the full version of Randy Newman’s “New Orleans Wins the War” on next week as our dedication to the Gulf of Mexico.

Have a listen and Happy 4th of July!
